Apple Brownies

Ingredients:

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
1 2/3 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups apples (about 2-3 apples), peeled, cored and chopped
1/2 cup chopped walnut
2 cups flour
2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

 Get your apples and walnuts.

Turn on the oven to 350ºF (170ºC) and place chunks of butter in a bowl to the oven to melt.
DO NOT forget your butter, which I often do...

Chop your walnuts to measure about 1/2 cup with your eyes.

Chop your apples, too. Try to think it as therapeutic activity...

Remember to check your butter at this point. I'm telling ya.

Combine all the dry ingredients in a bowl over a mesh,

let them snow..., I mean sift.

Take the melted butter and combine with sugar, add eggs, and vanilla. Mix until sugar melts.

 Add your apples,

the sifted flour mix, and walnuts. Just dump'em all together.

Use a spatula and stir until they get just moistend.

Just like that. DO NOT over mix...

Spread them in the 9 x 13 pan (greased, of course)

and stick it into oven, shut the door, and stare at it for 40-50 minutes of your life.
Or you can do your dishes, or pay your bills, or take a nap.

When the top gets cracked or nicely browned, or the testing toothpick comes out clean with a few crumbs, it is their time to come out of the hot oven.
Let it cool before you cut into bars.

Serve with cold vanilla ice cream
and with a drizzle of caramel sauce
if you want the extra calories.

But for me,
just a piece of apple brownie alone is satisfying enough.
and
I am eating my daily fruit.

That is a good thing.
